test import for RL

Hello EECS Educators!

Thank you for joining EECS Level 1! We are so excited that you are spending precious summer hours with us!

Pre-Work Activity Parts 1 & 2

In this activity, we ask that you commit two hours to watch and reflect on the movie ‘Coded Bias’. (In the event that you have seen ‘Coded Bias’ prior to this assignment, please view it for a second time.) The film examines the intersection of computer science, inclusion and social equity. For this per-sessionable activity, you will complete a pre- and post- viewing reflection. Please submit both reflections via Google Classroom prior to our first meeting.

--Part 1, a PRE-Viewing Reflection

Before you watch the movie, please reflect on the prompt-- How have you seen computer science shape positive outcomes in our world or in your classroom? What are your hopes for the possibilities of CS for your students?

Write or record a brief reflection (2 minutes OR 1/2 page) before watching the movie. Be prepared to share your reflections with your EECS colleagues.

--Part 2, a POST-Viewing Reflection

After watching the movie, reflect on the prompt-- What was surprising about the movie? How have you seen the perils of computer science in your classroom or personal life? What are your concerns about the future of computer science for our society?

Write or record a brief reflection (3 minutes OR 1 page) after watching the movie. Be prepared to share your reflections with your EECS colleagues.
