Gramática: Verbos –er/-ir en el presente del indicativo
Aprender –
to learn
|
yo aprendo, tú aprendes, él / ella / usted aprende
nosotros aprendemos, vosotros aprendéis, ellos / ellas / ustedes aprenden
|
Vivir -
To live
|
yo vivo, tú vives, él / ella / usted vive
nosotros vivimos, vosotros vivís, ellos / ellas / ustedes viven
|
Present tense verbs can have three meanings:
- Aprendes = do you learn (used in questions – the helping verb “do” does not exist in Spanish)
- Aprendes = you learn
- Aprendes = you are learning
Gramática: El verbo ir
The verb ir means to go. It can be used to indicate destination, or to indicate future plans (as in what someone is going to do.)
ir – to go
yo voy
tú vas
él / ella / usted va
nosotros vamos
vosotros vais
ellos / ellas / ustedes van
Uses of verb Ir
- To indicate destination, use a form of ir + a + destination.
Note that a + el = al. Similarly, de + el = del. (These are the only two contractions in Spanish.)
- To indicate future plans, use a form of ir + a + verb in the infinitive.
Gramática: Los posesivos
mi, mis
|
my
|
tu, tus
|
your (singular, informal)
|
su, sus
|
his, her, its, your (singular, formal)

Keep in mind:
- Possessive adjectives agree in terms of number with what is being possessed, not the owner.
- Nuestro and vuestro also must agree in gender with what is being possessed.
