Marcia Rapchak

Marcia Rapchak, EdD. is an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Information Culture and Data Stewardship Department at the School of Computing and Information at the University of Pittsburgh, where she teaches in the Masters of Library and Information Science program. Marcia was an academic librarian prior to her current position, where she coordinated and led assessment efforts of information literacy instruction face-to-face and online. Marcia’s research and teaching interests are in academic libraries, instructional design, and critical librarianship. Her research has appeared in the Journal of Library and Information Services in Distance Learning, the Journal of Radical Librarianship, and the Journal of Academic Librarianship, among others. In 2021, Marcia was recognized with the Beta Phi Mu award from the American Library Association, which recognizes contributions to librarianship education, for her ability to use effective and welcoming pedagogical strategies and to center conversations of equity and justice in the classroom.
